Composer’s Kitchen 2016

This unique event revolving around the string quartet is a combination workshop, laboratory, playground, and master class. Over the course of a week, the Quatuor Bozzini and two experienced composers will observe the work of up-and-coming composers. Their compositions will be read, played, assessed, analyzed, worked on, played again, and performed in the closing concert.

About

For once, the Canadian string quartet Quatuor Bozzini (one of this year’s ensembles in residence) sets up its annual Composer’s Kitchen in the Netherlands, specifically for Gaudeamus Muziekweek. The Kitchen is a workshop, laboratory, play area, and masterclass for young composers all-in-one. During the week leading up to this concert, Bozzini will work with two Gaudeamus Award nominees and two Canadian composers on recent works. The compositions are read, played, examined, analysed, improved, and then played again. The concert shows the results of this pressure cooker method.
