Daan Janssens

Daan Janssens studied composition and conducting at the Ghent Conservatory with Frank Nuyts, Filip Rathé and Godfried-Willem Raes. He currently studies conducting with Lucas Vis, and since 2007, he works at the Ghent Conservatory as an artistic researcher. In 2006, he received the first prize during the Ghent Week of Contemporary Music. Later, in 2008, ’09, and ’10, his works were selected by the ISCM jury Flanders. He attended different international master classes and seminars, both as composer: Darmstadt 2008, with Marco Stroppa, Isabel Mundry, Brian Ferneyhough; Acanthes 2009, with Bruno Mantovani and Hugues Dufourt; Darmstadt 2010); as well as conductor: Ensemble Modern Composition Seminar 2008-09 with Johannes Kalitzke, and L’arsenale 2010 with Marco Angius. Since 2006 he conducts the contemporary music ensemble Nadar.
