In his compositions, Jimmie LeBlanc explores how music can be thought of as capture of forces and logic of sensation, through concepts such as performative figure and texture. He has completed a doctorate in composition at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, was the recipient of the Lutosławski Award (2008) and won the Canada Council for the Arts Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music (2009). His music has been notably performed by Contrechamps, Esprit Orchestra, Nouvel ensemble moderne, Quatuor Bozzini, Continuum Contemporary Music Ensemble and Camerata Aberta.
