Lauded by critics in The Guardian and The New York Times, Montréal’s Quatuor Bozzini performs fresh interpretations of Haydn and Beethoven classics, alongside works by Cassandra Miller (Canada/UK) and Paul Newland (UK), both composition professors at the Guildhall School of Music. Miller’s Warblework is inspired by Canadian birdsongs, which are beautifully transcribed in unexpected ways for the string quartet. In Newland’s revised piece, the quartet plays “as one, completely together, in perfect unison, like breathing. In slow motion.” This programme is a wonderful mix of old and new: “compelling music, compellingly played,” by Quatuor Bozzini.
