Quatuor Bozzini presents the 2nd annual Concordia Contemporary Music Institute (CCMI), a multi-day new music training program intended for instrumentalists enrolled in a music performance program at a college, CEGEP or university. It is possible to enroll as a pre-formed group or individual player. Each participant or ensemble should prepare one or more pieces they would like to study. Other pieces will be assigned. Individual and group lessons with Quatuor Bozzini and guest faculty take place throughout the Institute. The experience culminates in a participants’ concert on May 22.

The focus of the Institute is on music written 1950-present, and investigates aspects of contemporary performance: developments in instrumental technique; changes in performance practice; deciphering new forms of notation; elements of improvisation; how to work with a composer; how to find and access new repertoire; etc.

// To submit your application
Instrumentalists wishing to apply need to:

  • fill the online form
  • submit 2 different audio exemples (mp3 only) of them playing and the related scores (PDF only)
  • if video excerpts are available, applicants may submit web links (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) in the “Comments” section available to each piece.
  • each member of an ensemble must apply separately

The workshop fee is 450$ per participant and covers the cost of all the masterclasses taking place during the Institute.
