Quatuor Bozzini incarnates a completely new rendez-vous musical, with Tapas and new Treasures on the menu!
Montréal — November 26, 2013 — For immediate release: Just back from an European tour ranging from Sweden to the UK, and including appearances at the prestigious hcmf// (Huddersfield contemporary music festival), Quatuor Bozzini finally unveils its new project. the Performer’s Kitchen, a first for Montréal audiences.
In the vein of its Composer’s Kitchen, this series is dedicated to instrumentalists aiming to perfect their work by adventuring beyond standard musical channels. Come hear some repertoire with and within an unexpected perspective! Liberally inspired by the Vancouver series Music on Main at The Cellar, QB will set up shop at La Sala Rosa (in the restaurant dining room!) where the audience is invited to hear music performed, reflected upon, and reshaped, with a Portuguese tasting menu accompaniment. The first event takes place Tuesday, December 10, 6 pm, with special guest, guitarist Marc-Olivier Lamontagne.

Marc-Olivier Lamontagne is a Canadian guitarist who specializes in contemporary music performance on classical and electric guitar. He is a sought-after soloist, improviser and chamber musician who regularly performs with new music ensemble such as the Nouvel ensemble moderne, Orchestre 21, Chants libres, Ensemble Punctum (for which he is Artistic Director) and Ensemble La Machine (of which he is a founding member). His advocacy for new music has led him to premiere several solo and ensemble works for guitar both in Canada and Europe. Since Fall 2012, Marc-Olivier serves as Artistic Director of the Ottawa New Music Creators. He is also an Artistic Adviser for Codes d’accès. Marc-Olivier has just completed a doctorate in New Music Performance with Lorraine Vaillancourt and Bruno Perron at the University of Montréal. Thanks to grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, he spent time as a resident at the Cité des Arts in Paris, where he studied with Judicaël Perroy and Alberto Ponce.
Finalist to the 28th Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal 2012, the Bozzini Quartet is a radically contemporary ensemble evolving in a perpetually effervescent music scene. The group distinguishes itself by its open-mindedness toward the myriad artistic currents and disciplines of today.They indulge in taking risks and boldly venture off the beaten track, leaving commonplace ideas by the wayside. Passionate about their music-making, they win audiences over with their precise, supple and detailed playing. The quartet carefully builds up an uncompromising and diverse repertoire, never giving in to fashion. Since its inception, it has commissioned some hundred and thirty works and has premiered over two hundred. The guest of many international festivals, the Bozzini Quartet also supports the younger generation of composers through workshops, notably their Composer’s Kitchen. The quartet hosts its own recording label, Collection QB, on which they feature various composers from Canada and abroad.
