Territoire lune

Maxime McKinley

Territoire lune has been performed in Montréal…

Territoire Lune is a work for solo violin in two parts – one linear (directional) and the other circular (non directional). In the first part, you will first hear a stable state in the low register, followed by a gradual stepwise rising, leading to another stable state in the high register. The second part consists in a whirl of heterogeneous objects derived from the first part. These objects move gradually to in all directions, covering the full range of the instrument, like weightless figures, clashing in an assembly that recalls the “jump cut” technique in New Wave cinema. The work was composed in Paris during the fall of 2009, and premiered by Julie-Anne Derome in Montreal, in October 2010.
