Rill 69

Martin Arnold

Rill 69 has been performed in Montréal and Victoria…

A rill is “a shallow channel cut in the ground by running water” or more specifically “any of certain long, narrow, straight or sinuous trenches observed on the surface of the moon.” If only Rill 69 was left over from the running of Moon River; but it is an array of meandering passages formed by contingent actions and can perhaps be thought of as a slack détournement that invokes another pop song, Route 66. And what about 69? Besides being a fine looking number, it’s the tempo of Rill 69.
