“Four mirrored forms from Luther’s famous choral” (Aldo Clementi)

“Von Himmel hoch” draws its inspiration from a famous Luther’s choral. It keeps its syllabical phrasing and rigorous conterpoint based on four different lines which are varied by augmentation and inversion. The piece can be repeated up to three times, every time slower, giving the impression of progressively moving away and decading.
